Video record companies

In this task I will be discussing the big music companies and what big starts they have laboured.

In the music industry there are four major music record companies that control the music industry. These four power house music record companies are Universal, Sony Music, Warner Brothers and EMI. There are also smaller music companies that are owned by the big four but they are unheard of because they are not as known to the market like the big four but they are independent as they can survive for a long time. These companies are created to reach different kinds of audiences in different kinds of genre.  These music record companies are Columbia, Island, Syco, RCA and Virgin. Also these smaller companies are known as major-independent.

The four major companies are very successful and have built reputation throughout the years and become known as the profitable record companies in the music industry. Also one of the main methods the four majors makes profit, it through advertising and online websites like Vevo. Vevo is multinational video hosting service that is known for playing loads of music videos on YouTube. Vevo is created by a bunch of music records joined together to create it. These companies are Universal Music Groups, Google, Sony Music Entertainment and ABU Dhabi Media.  The four majors are known because of the stars they have. For example Universal Music Groups are much known because they have Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Lady Gaga and many other famous singers. Warner Brothers are much known because they have Linkin Park, Madonna, Prince and many other singers. Sony Music has Shakira, Britney Spears, Calvin Harris and many other famous singers.  The last big major is EMI; EMI is known for recording singers like The Beatles, Queen, David Guetta and many other famous singers. These four majors’ record companies will always be roiling in money because of the stars they have.

In the music industry artists are dived by two groups: Organic and Synthetic. In the industry organic artists referees to the artists making their own piece of music which they enjoy writing and want to make and then the record labels try and sell their music to the correct market segment and if they are in group meaning they knew each in since they were young. Organic music often appeals to a niche, but can appeal to a mass audience too, they make the kind of music they. An example of organic music is when EMI signed The Beatles. The Beatles were founded in Liverpool in 1960. The Beatles achieved top of the pops and became famous around the world. They were seen worldwide in many consorts and seen in films like “A Hard Day Night”. This is movie about them and their lives as a famous band. They are organic artists because they made their own piece of music which they enjoy writing and want to make. The band members knew each other and had a shared love of music. The music came first-then the fame.

In the industry synthetic artists referees to the idea of the artists being manufactured, meaning being made to sing not being born for sing. Synthetic artists are being made by record labels and TV shows like The X Factor and The Voice. A gap in the market is identified, and then it is exploited by the development of music, and often the record labels make artist to fill the gap in the market. However unlike organic which is about the music first, money is the ultimate goal to synthetic artist. Some artists like One Direction and the Spice Girls are both good example of manufactured artists.
