In this task I will be
explaining the purpose and opportunities of a music video, which are:
availability of artist, promotional, extension of income, extension of outlets,
synergy and the strategies products. I will talk about Bing Crosby, Frank
Sinatra, Elvis and The Beatles.
During the 1940s the most
popular singer in world was Bing Crosby. Bing Crosby was born on May 3, 1903 in Tacoma,
Washington, US. He was the first multimedia star and was the leading record
sales, radio rating and motion pictures. His career started when he was invited
to join a new band composed of high school students younger then himself. From
than he did many other signals and joined other bands and became famous. Bing Crosby was only seen on performance
stages, movies like “Holiday inn” which is musical film and Fans only saw on TV
Specials like “Bing Crosby show” in 1959, besides that he was not seen any were
else. The same with Frank Sinatra and then Elvis Presley. All of these singers
were the most popular music acts in the world.
Frank Sinatra was the one to replace Bing Crosby and become number one in his time. Frank Sinatra was born on December 12 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey US. He replaced Bring Crosby as world’s biggest star in his time and he was the most popular and influential. Franke Sinatra started his career as a teenager singing professionally. He got his first break in 1935 when he joined a local singing group called the Three Flashes. From than he did many other signals and joined other bands. Just like Bring Crosby, Franke Sinatra was only seen on TV specials like the 1946 “Old Man River” where he sang the song Old man River or films like High Society. Bedside that he is only seen in consorts. The same goes for Elvis Pressley.
Elvis Presley was born on January 8 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, US. Elvis Presley was the king of rock and the king of pop in his time. Elvis Presley started his career in August 1953 where he walked into offices of Sun Records. He aimed sing for a few minutes of studio time and record a two-sided acetate disc “My Happiness”. From than he did many other signals and joined other bands. Just like Bring Crosby and Franke Sinatra, Elvis Presley was only seen on TV specials like the “Hound Dog live on the Milton Berle Show in 1956” where he sang the song Hound Dog live on the TV. He was also seen on films like Blue Hawall, which is a muscly movie. Bedside that he was only seen in consorts like Suspicious Minds live in Las Vegas. Other than that Elvis Presley was not seen by his fans in other countries because he only did tour in the US.
In the sixties The Beatles
achieved worldwide success. They became fed up with touring the world to
promote their records. For the release of “Paperback Writer” they decided to
make a short film that they could send around the world to promote their new
single. This film was the first Music Video and in many ways established the
format. The Beatles were founded in Liverpool in 1960. The Beatles achieved top
of the pops and became famous around the world. They were seen world wide in
many consorts and seen in films like “A Hard Day Night”. This is movie about
them and their lives as a famous band.
The director of the Paperback Writer had to
make the Music Video verities of shorts with different camera angel’s change in
pest to keep up with the video. In the video, around 30 seconds they had 8
different shots to keep the audience intrigued. The first shot was an extreme
close up of all the singers of the groups. They done this because they want the
audience to be entertained not board by the same shot for a long time. The
shots cut between members to show each member’s line and helps to keep the flow
of the video continue. As the song progress there are a number of close ups and
long shots used to catch the audience. The method used to edit this video is
shot stop motion, where they cut each piece of shot and put it back together.
The process of the method took a long time but nowadays we have better technology,
which helps us to improve our editing skills and make better music videos.
