AS1 Blog 3 - Understanding the Techniques of Music Videos and editing to the Beat

In this task I will create a practice music video was I will show the evidence of the tools and technique used. I will show that I can cut to the beat, add special effects and use split screen.

When creating a music video, there are many techniques and editing styles used to make the clips of the practice music video and the music join and make it look continues. Throughout the stages of creating the practice music video, I mashed up multiple video effect and techniques to see which one made the music video look original and continues.  First to make the practices music video I had to go through the music and see where in between, would the sound increase, drop or stops and mark it on the timeline so would not forget where I need to edit to make it look continues. While doing that, I had select which clip of the video is best suited for the music and then I would extend the timeline and look deeper to see each shots closely and choose which shots meets the music when it drops the beat. I had to be careful while doing this, as I had to make sure that the shots would look continues. As the clips were big, I could use many different shots to make the music video look the way I want it to be.  The first technique I used was to make the video split screen, meaning in different places coming in different direction as different times. This is effective because it displays shots of the actors dancing in different places making it look continues. The second technique is the blue lightning effect. I used this effect to make the shot look more dramatic as the beat was dropping. Throughout my practice music video, the techniques that I used can be transferred to my real music video when it comes to making it.  This is because my practice video is enjoyable to watch as the images are continues and they cut to match the beat of the music, so the audience will not lose their attention on the video as there are many shots going on at the same time. However when I was using the first technique, it was difficulty as first because I had to make sure that all the shots stayed in position and came and left and the right time.  Also with the special effect, I had to make sure that it came on, when the beat was about to drop. Both of these techniques are very useful when it comes to creating a music video. Both of them will help me when I create my really music as I will apply the technique to my really music video because they make them music video look interesting and continues. Overall I think that my practices music video is a success as I edited it to the beat of the music and make the video make continues to my will.
